Die Hundeblume

This work was developed at the site of a former nazi jail Zellengefängnis Moabit, near Lehrter Bahnhof in Berlin and dedicatet to one of the inmates, the german writer Wolfgang Borchert. He wrote the novel "The Dandelion". Among the inmates were the famous poet Haushofer and bishop Bonhoefer, both of them left words about this place.

The exhibition consists of two groups of drawings and an installation. The work Cells, a group of 24 same sized drawings of leaves, printed on vinyl as the jail cell layered underneath. The installation shows a collection of dried leaves from the site inside a showcase, that can be observed carefully by a magnifying glass. As the dandelion in the novel, these leaves are from the jail floor and inspire to a close look upon nature and life. A film of these leaves, real and painted and the site are screened while a voice is reciting a poem by K.Quecke.
